ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Sree Sastha Institute of Engineering and Technology comes under the banner of A.M.Kanniappa Mudaliar and A.M.K. Jambulinga Mudaliar Educational Trust, with the motto of imparting Education in an uncompromising manner with all facilities and infrastructure available. SSIET stepping into its Eleventh year has all potential to bloom into one of the premier institutions of the State in the near future.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Civil Engineering at Sree Sastha Institute Of Engineering And Technology,Chembarambakkam was rooted in the year 2002 with an initial intake of 30 with the approval of AICTE, with in a short period of time, the department has taken the concrete shape in carrying out the academic and co-curricular activities in an effective way.
Dr.B.Hemalatha is the Head of the Department and she leads a team of 12 dedicated staff, 11 are postgraduates .The department has number of well-equipped laboratories and provides excellent facilities for teaching learning process.
The CE department has very good infrastructure facilities with a total investment of Rs 30,00,000/- on lab equipments alone. The department has well-equipped laboratories like survey lab, strength of materials lab, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic machinery lab, soil lab, Concrete Technology lab, Environmental lab.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
The Head of the Department, Dr. B.Hemalatha along with the Managment, Lecturers, Staffs and Students formed the Society of Civil Engineers (SCE). This organization has been an active society amongst the students. Conducting International and National level seminars for the students, the Society has worked hard to keep the Objectives of the Department.
ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM:
The Department of civil engineering along with the Society of Civil Engineers (SCE) is counducting a National Level Technical Symposium - EQUINOX T10 - for the first time in a grand manner.on March 12th 2010 hoping that it sets the bench mark for technical symposiums.Exhibition is being arranged for the civil engineering students from all pver the nation to view the prototypes of buildings and gain knowledge in designing sectors.
